Secret Cinema – Back To The Future

August 2014

Nina worked with Secret Cinema in the capacity of Head of Video for their immersive cinematic extravaganza presenting Back To The Future. The show ambitiously and successfully re-created Hill Valley for audiences of thousands each night as well as mirroring iconic moments and stunts from within the film in front of their very eyes.

Secret Cinema Presents: Back To The Future represents Nina’s fifth show with the immersive event makers and the show was widely recognised at the number one must-do event of Summer 2014.

Supported by an excellent team of videographers, content makers, technicians and technology partners, Nina was responsible for both the creative content and the main feature playback. The creative content varied from shoots for the spoof 1950s Hill Valley TV network to silhouettes of characters populating the windows of houses on the site to large scale facade projection before, during and after the main feature including a 3D flying Delorean finale and a separate film screening within the Hill Valley Pictures Cinema on site.

The main feature was also enhanced by using projection mapping techniques to make the blacks of the film itself read better during the earlier part of the screening when ambient light was still present.
