Nina Dunn is a multi-award-winning video designer specialising in integrated video design for live experiences. Her practice spans theatre and opera, live events, public art, and exhibitions. She is widely regarded as one of the UK’s foremost female practitioners in her industry.
From a background in film, broadcast and animation and named one of The Stage’s “Designers to Watch” in 2017, she has become an authority and advocate for broader representation of traditionally underrepresented practitioners, equity and collaborative design.
Her artistry has been shown on some of the world’s most iconic stages, where she integrates technology and imagery within three-dimensional environments to create unified visual narratives.
Significant collaborations include productions for Kenneth Branagh, Cameron Mackintosh, Sonia Friedman Productions, ATG, Trafalgar Entertainment, Carlos Acosta CBE, the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Glyndebourne and Vienna State Opera.
Nina focuses on rhythm, musicality and narrative, shaped through dialogue with the wider creative team. She examines how cue structure, scenic movement, scale and pacing shape the visual impact and emotional resonance of a production – positioning video design as a truly embedded and responsive element that bridges other disciplines.
As both collaborator and maker, Nina maintains a structured workflow that supports her creative freedom. Drawing on a trusted network of specialist practitioners working for her studio, PixelLux Design, she takes a flexible and cross-disciplinary approach to content creation, enabling her to adapt to a wide range of stylistics.
Beyond theatre and opera, her practice includes commissions for Hermès, Van Cleef & Arpels, the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), Secret Cinema, The Financial Times, the BBC and national initiatives such as the UK City of Culture programme and the VE Day Anniversary Gala.
Alongside her professional practice, Nina maintains a deep commitment to arts education and mentorship, actively fostering the next generation of designers. Having founded and delivered the ‘Video & Digital Design’ module at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, she continues to lecture at leading UK colleges and academies.
Nina is Co-Founder and Creative Director of PixelLux, where she leads a team dedicated to advancing visual storytelling in live performance and experiential media.
Nina is represented by Mark Price at AHA Talent.
