The popular Children’s program, In The Night Garden Live, toured the UK in a new production. Producers Minor Entertainment enlisted Samuel Wyer to design the show for a range of Theatres across the UK and Nina completed the picture – and story – with Video Design. Will Tuckett, who directed the previous tour that took place in a ‘Show Dome’ led the team including Helen Eastman (script), Matt Daw (Lights) and Rich Walsh (Sound).

The Video was a key element in supporting the narrative, delivering some of the characters to the stage including the Tittifer birds, the Hahoohs, and at times, the Ninky Nonk and Pinky Ponk. It also completed the stage picture in the centre with scenic support for each character with a view through the forest or the character’s iconic home. These scenes were commissioned as photo-reaslistic 3D animated scenes, which lent a crispness to the image with the potential to stylise elements to match the set and allowed for the perfect camera angle and setting to be created relative to the stage. We were also able to track the scenery to match the choreography of the characters and create crane moves that transition up to the trees to discover the Tittifers.

The audience are entranced and delighted by the show. As a mother of two it was fantastic for designer Nina to be able to create work for an audience so close to her heart and an eye-opener in terms of the approach and delivery.
